Fantastic full-day maritime experience through the Ultima Esperanza fjord, to reach the largest protected area in South America, the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park.
The reception of passengers begins at 07:00 hrs in the city center, from where the shipping company buses will take them to Puerto Bories (5 kms) and then set sail for the scheduled boat at 08:00 hrs. . On the way to these mountain glaciers, scheduled stops will be made to photograph the various attractions that the fjord has, such as: Roquerío de los cormoranes (austral birds), canyon of sea lions, and waterfall of the condors.
After 3 hours of navigation, the boat stops to the delight of visitors in front of the Balmaceda Glacier, after 15 minutes docking at the dock of the National Park where there is a guided walk of about 60 minutes (round trip + stay + stay in viewpoint) where it is accessed through a path to the main viewpoint of the Serrano Glacier.
The return is made through the same fjord, where a whiskey with ice from the Serrano Glacier will be offered as an aperitif, to later get off the catamaran in a beautiful Patagonian ranch to enjoy a typical lunch of grilled lamb or chicken.
The entrance to the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park is included in the tour value, and the return time to Puerto Natales is estimated at around 16:30 p.m.
TIPS
- It is recommended to bring hydration for the day of excursion, since there is no drinking water on board and due to sediments it is not advisable to draw water from glacial lagoons.
- It is good to wear a waterproof jacket, as it tends to leave the cabin during navigation and passenger showers are common.
- If you have a bus combination to Punta Arenas after this excursion, be sure to buy a ticket around 20:00 hrs since there are days when due to the number of passengers, the wind and the tides, it becomes later than usual to Puerto Natales.
